Member Options

All Membership runs from July 1st through June 30th each year. Applicants can choose either Active or Associate Membership. Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors once a month. The Board may request further information prior to approval. Payment will be due immediately upon approval of Membership. In the case where an application is refused, the applicant will be given the reason. Note that Bye Law 4.2 states "...The decision of the Board to refuse an application may be reviewed by the members at a meeting convened for that purpose, and the action taken at the time shall be binding by all parties concerned."

ACTIVE MEMBER 
A Company that regularly employs, in Bermuda, at least one person commonly called a journeyman, tradesman or laborer in the trades generally referred to as construction trades. Select your membership fee based on total number of employees. 

  • 1 - 10 Employees 
  • 6 - 10 Employees
  • 11 - 25 Employees
  • 26 - 50 Employees 
  • 50+ Employees 

ASSOCIATE MEMBER
A Company with a connection, directly or implied, with the Construction Industry in Bermuda. Associate Members do not have Voting Rights and may not hold Office in the CAOB. Associate Members must abide by all rules governing Active Members.

CODE OF CONDUCT
At all times, A Member Firm agrees to:

  • Discharge its duties to its clients, employees, subcontractors and suppliers with honesty, efficiency and integrity ;
  • Strive to provide its clients with quality service and value for money whilst being mindful of its duties to the general public thereby enhancing the reputation of the industry;
  • Manage its affairs professionally so that all its operations are conducted efficiently, effectively and in accordance with good business practice;
  • Employ competent staff and subcontractors and inform them of their obligations of this code and monitor their compliance with it;
  • Ensure that all its building work is in accordance with good practice and current standards and complies with all relevant statutory and contractual requirements, including the provision of adequate insurance for all relevant risks;
  • Resolve any complaints quickly and equitably, and not divulge any information of a confidential nature relating to the business activities of its clients;
  • Actively pursue a sincere commitment to activities beneficial to the future of the Bermuda construction industry, specifically Bermudianisation, recruitment and training, quality control and adherence to the requirements of the Health and Safety Act.

CAOB Scholarship Fund
The CAOB, in conjunction with the National Training Board, provides annual Scholarships for qualified
Bermudians studying in construction related fields.

Payment may be made by check or bank transfer to BNTB 20 006 060 057509 100 and reference your company name.

By accepting the Terms and Conditions outlined in the application, the applicant agrees to comply with the CAOB Bye-laws and the CAOB Code of Conduct.

We as a business confirm we are compliant and current with all regulatory authorities within Bermuda.  This means we are current and up to date with payments with Office of the Tax Commission (which includes payroll tax and land tax), the Office of Social Insurance and the Office of the Pension Commission.  We as a business also grant the Construction Association of Bermuda permission to contact any or all the above listed offices at any time to ensure we are current with all payments.  In the event we as a business are not current with all such payments our membership to the Construction Association of Bermuda can be revoked.  We also grant the above listed offices the permission to contact the Construction Association of Bermuda to ensure our membership with the association is in good standing.
